Eggshell Product History

|
More recently scientists have started to identify several beneficial characteristics in the eggshell membrane. That's the thin layer between the egg white and the shell, which provides the same function in the egg, as the amniotic membrane surrounding the fetus does in humans. Our fore fathers used to put eggshell membrane from a boiled egg on wounds or burns, which would hasten the healing process. Even then they knew there was something unique about the membrane - Was grandmother ever wrong? Scientists have now determined that eggshell membrane is primarily protein made up of collagen and other connective tissue substances such as glucosamine, chondroitin and hyaluronic acid. All ingredients that are essential to healthy joints and connective tissue in mammals. The eggshell, nature's perfect package, provides a strong barrier to protect the interior of the egg from damage. Lately eggshells have been recognized as having more value than originally thought. The hen has the ability to produce one of the purest forms of calcium, which we know as the eggshell. |
